The renowned e-commerce platform Flipkart has launched a Sell Back program for the buyers who want to purchase used smartphones. Right now, this program is only for Smartphones. Eventually, Flipkart will launch such programs for its other product categories also. Flipkart’s Sell Back program follows Flipkart’s acquisition of electronics re-commerce firm Yaantra. This program is running in the major cities of India, across more than 1,700 pin codes.
Flipkart has announced on February 14 in a Press Release that the company is launching a special Sell Back program. This will enable the users of Flipkart to buy used smartphones. According to the company, this facility can be availed by users from the Flipkart App. This feature can be seen in the lower bar of the app. They also announced that the facility is currently launched for smartphones only. Later, they will provide this feature for other product categories also.
The Sell Back facility of Flipkart will be available for all smartphones whether they had been bought from Flipkart or not. This new feature of Flipkart is available in more than 1700 pin codes for now. The major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Patna, etc. are getting this facility for the current time. If a user sells his/her smartphone over Flipkart, then he/she will get an e-Voucher from the company. This e-Voucher ensures the “Right Buy-Back Value” for the seller.
In the time of selling a smartphone through the Sell Back program, the company will ask three simple questions to the seller of the phone. On the basis of the answers, the price of the smartphone will be settled. After the confirmation from the seller user, Flipkart’s courier executives will pick up the phone within 48 hours. After the verification of the phone, Flipkart will send an e-Voucher to the seller in return for the smartphone.
A recent survey from IDC shows that 125 million used smartphones circulate in India each year. Out of these smartphones, only 20 million goes to other persons as second-hand smartphones. The remaining 105 million smartphones go as extensive waste. So, Flipkart has taken such an initiative. Flipkart launched Yaantra in the year 2013. Yaantra repairs and sells refurbished tech products of consumers like smartphones and laptops.
