A popular Battle Royal Game, “Garena Free Fire” was banned in India on February 14 along with other 53 Applications by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The app has already disappeared from Google Play and Apple’s App Store. The developer of the Game Garena, a Singapore-based developer provided an update on this situation.
Garena said, “We are aware that Free Fire is currently unavailable in the Google Play and iOS app stores in India and that the game is currently not operable for some users in the country”. “We are working to address this situation, and we apologize to our users for any inconvenience,” Garena added.
But, the higher graphics version of the game “Free Fire MAX” is still available on Playstore. It is not get affected by the ban. After the disappearance of PUBG from India, Free Fire had taken the blank space. According to an App Annie report, It is the most downloaded game of the year 2021. PUBG was a very popular game among the Gamers of India.
In the year 2020, the TikTok app and other popular short video apps were banned in India. Along with them, some other apps like Club Factory (an e-commerce app), Cam Scanner, Xender, etc. were banned in India. at that time, India Government had banned 52 Chinese apps from India.
The Apps were being banned by MeitY under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. It states that Government has the “Power to issue directions for interception or monitoring or decryption of any information through any computer resource.”
The most recent statement about Free Fire suggests that it will come back to Play Store and App Store very soon. So, the gamers can take a deep breath and keep waiting. But, the earlier banned apps that originated from China will be kept banned.
